Open Letter to Donald J. Trump on Inauguration Day...the man who will NEVER BE OUR PRESIDENT

Comb-Over Trump Not Our President

Dear Donald Trump:

Today, January 20th  2017 you are the President of these the “United States of America”, but you are not the President for most Americans, we do not see you as elected in a “Free and Fair” election, believe you cheated to put yourself into the highest office in the land, committed treason with the help of Russia and its leader Vladimir Putin.  Most of us cannot and will not ever see you as President, do not respect you, or your agenda that has painted a target onto the backs of almost every person in what, till you took office was a great nation.

We do not fear you as a person, but fear what you are going to do while in office, and that has us loathing you and your administration with every fiber of our beings.  Let’s go over some of the issues we have with you and your agenda for America.

79 Million Americans have paid into Medicare and Social Security our entire working lives, counted on and factored these social programs into our retirement plans, benefits we bought and paid for, and hearing that you are now willing to break your “Campaign Promise” to preserve these programs, are willing to give the GOP controlled congress free rein to eliminate them is simply unacceptable.   We are not asking for a handout, but demanding that we receive benefits that we have already paid for during our entire working careers.   Taking those benefits away, or reducing them is equivalent to robbery, and we are not going to allow you and a Republican Congress to steal from us what we have already paid for…just because you got away with fraud with your Trump University, does not mean you get to screw millions of Americans in the same fashion.

For most senior citizens, cutting back or eliminating these important Social Programs will leave us broke, destitute and living shorter lives than God above intended us too.   For these reasons, we will fight you at every step of the journey as you attempt to roll back benefits we have already earned.  Furthermore,  any attempt at reducing or eliminating these benefits will cost the Republicans dearly in the 2018 midterm election, and see you (if you have not been impeached) going down to the greatest defeat a sitting president has ever suffered should you decide to run for re-election in 2020.  This is not a threat sir, but a promise…we can speak our peace during elections with our votes, and we learned in this past election how easily a vile monster like you can take power if we take our vote for granted by staying home.  NEVER  AGAIN.

Your attitudes and plans for both immigrants, and Muslims is not only unacceptable, it is both racist and illegal.   Your campaign of instilling fear in us as Americans is deplorable, and if you think you can force your edicts on us because we think you will keep us safe, think again.   You live in New York (sadly), have the ability to look out into the harbor and see the “Statue of Liberty” standing proudly, a symbol to the World that America’s arms are open to its huddled masses.   Yet, other than your back door that opens into the employee’s entrance at Maralogo, you want to shut that door in your wrong sited desire to isolate us from the rest of the world, turning America’s back on what is and will continue to be a Global Society and Economy.  What we in the majority want and expect from the person who is supposed to represent ALL AMERICANS:

1.    Valid, not extreme vetting that allows those escaping from war and oppression too find both a safe haven and home here in America.  It is who we are as a nation.  We all remember 9/11 and its aftermath, and no one wants a repeat of that day, but we also don’t want to give into  terrorist, don’t want them to be successful in destroying our free and open society from the inside out.  Your agenda and tough guy talk is setting the stage for just that reality, and the various and assorted tainted Generals in your cabinet seem to signal your willingness, even eager desire to beat the drums of a war that “We the People” do not want.  War kills people in the name of jump starting corporate profit taking…we are not interested in dying for your Billionaire Friends.
2.      Most Americans support some kind of Immigration Reform which provides some kind of a pathway to eventual citizenship.  What we do not support, is the rounding up and deportation of millions of undocumented immigrants, the vicious tearing apart of families, many of whom have called America home for decades, and multiple generations.  If you want a wall, build it around your estate properties, not around America.

Nothing during the campaign was more offensive than your taped voice saying, “Grab em by the pussy” and most women fear that one statement personifies your complete and udder disrespect for women, and their rights.  Keep your dirty filthy hands and Republican aspirations that try to legislate their perverted Morales into law off of women’s bodies, and out of their rights as EQUAL CITIZENS of these United States of America.  Leave Roe vs Wade alone, and stop harassing Planned Parenthood, stop trying to destroy an organization that has done so much good  for women in their fight to be seen and treated as equals in our American Society.

Those in the LGBT community whom most Americans both love and respect are under attack more than ever before, and that reality lies at your feet Mr. Trump.   You have stoked the flames of racism and bigotry in this country, and that action has made both POC and the LGBT targets of the Alt. Right, which is nothing more than a politically correct way of saying Neo-Nazi Nationalist bent on belittling and/or destroying anyone unlike them…which means anyone non-white, anyone who does not fit into their rigid misguided views of morality.   In short, well over half of the citizens of these United States fail the Republican purity test, and so are now targets of their hatred and you have empowered them.  We the people believe in marriage equality believe in a workplace devoid of discrimination, and a nation that bestows “Equal Rights” upon all citizens regardless of their Race, Creed, Religion, Sex or Sexual Orientation.

In so many ways, you have spoken out against minimum wage; have suggested at times you feel it is too high.   You and others living in Ivory Towers seem to think there is nothing wrong with paying people a starvation wage, keeping them in what amounts to a situation of life long servitude to the rich and elite.  Rich people may create jobs, but it is those toiling day in and day out at subsistence wage jobs that create the product and services that create the wealth enjoyed by the few.  That is morally and ethically wrong, and it is time for a living wage.    Ten dollars an hour with a large number of exclusions for certain jobs is not a living wage.  $15 dollars an hour is barely a minimum wage, so let us start there, and make it universal with no exceptions in certain industry such as restaurants.  If a company such as Waffle House cannot survive while paying a fair wage, let them close their doors.   Slavery supposedly ended over 150 years ago, starvation wages is the modern day equivalent that must end, indentured servitude being tossed into the dumpster of bad ideas we as a nation find morally repugnant and reject as unacceptable.

Global Climate Change is real…we do not need less environmental protection, but more of it.  We do not desire to go back to a time where Sarah Palin’s chant of “Drill Baby Drill” is the law of the land, a time where Big Oil can run rough shod over economically depressed communities in their quest to suck every last ounce of fossil fuels out of the ground to benefit only their corporate bottom lines.  Your cabinet picks instead of protecting the environment, and slowing Global Warming will accelerate it, and put our planet in grave peril.  That cannot and must not happen, and again we will fight your wrong sited ideas and plan for America.

If you and the Republicans want to fix what is wrong with Obama Care, we have some very workable solutions.  If instead it is your intention to take Health Care away from 22-30 Million Americans we oppose the plan, and all those including you who will attempt it.  Have you considered what your Presidency will be like if Republicans lose both the House and Senate in 2018?  You will be a neutered fool, president in title only, all but powerless for the last half or your Presidency.

We the people oppose massive tax cuts for corporations and the uber rich…instead, how about raising their taxes.   Take that money and do three things with it.   One third can go to rebuilding our military, and properly taking care of our Veterans.   Another third can go to paying down the debt which is out of control.  Let the last third be used for social safety net programs such as Social Security, paying back the money which was stolen from it, used to strengthen Medicare/Medicaid, and putting more people in a position of having coverage.

Perhaps you can find the time to read Upton Sinclair’s “The Jungle” and learn from that reading.  You and your policies want to take America backwards, rather than forward, and “We the People” must oppose your efforts at every step.

It would be nice if you changed, and became the people’s president, but that is not going to happen as you are far to vain and self-centered to truly care for America and its people.   So, on this your day of Inauguration, we the undersigned citizens of this great nation are informing you that you are NOT OUR PRESIDENT, and probably never will be.  Respect is not demanded, but instead is earned, a lesson you should have learned long ago.  We will not stand with you, will not stand behind you, but instead will be the resistance that works to stop you are every turn.

Spectra Energy's Algonquin Pipeline Expansion is Just a BAD IDEA

Biblical Disaster Waiting to Happen
What are they thinking?  There are just some ideas  that are just wrong, regardless of how you look at them, and Spectra Energy's expansion of the Algonquin Pipeline which when completed will be less than two hundred feet from the failing Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant, buried under the Hudson River is just such a bad idea.   Actually, it is far worse than a bad idea, it is asking for a Double Whammy disaster of Biblical Proportions, that will cost hundreds of thousands, even millions of injured or dead people, and create damages running into the hundreds of Billions of dollars...even scarier, because Federal Law exempts Nuclear Power Plants from carrying adequate accident insurance, while at the same time denying citizens having nuclear accident insurance which would mean hundreds of thousands of people could lose their most valuable asset, their homes with no legal recourse.
The Price-Anderson Act became law on September 2, 1957, to cover liability claims of members of the public for personal injury and property damage caused by a nuclear accident involving a commercial nuclear power plant. The legislation helped encourage private investment in commercial nuclear power by placing a cap, or ceiling, on the total amount of liability each nuclear power plant licensee faced in the event of an accident. Over time, the “limit of liability” for a nuclear accident has increased the insurance pool to more than $12 billion.  NOTE-The estimated cost of cleaning up Japan’s wrecked Fukushima nuclear plant has doubled to nearly 22 trillion yen ($190 billion).
What was FERC thinking when they approved the ill-conceived routing for this pipeline extension and why are they allowing the project to go forward after the company's dismal failure in trying to install one of the key sections of pipeline that is less than a football field away from Indian Point ?Why hasn't both the NRC and FERC called for a halt to construction while a new EIS/Impact Study is done...their attempts to bury the pipeline under the river, laid upon the rivers bottom failed, the pipe sinking, Spectra has now decided they want to do a patch, tying a new high pressure line into an old low pressure line as a fix, falsely telling the community this is a perfect solution which presents no additional danger to the community and its citizens.  We all know that is a lie.

This same message has been used in the Dakota's for another ill conceived high pressure pipeline known as DAPL.  Let's examine a few things.

1.   FERC, the Army Corp of Engineers and the US EPA rerouted the DAPL route when it was decided that the pipeline would/could present a significant risk to the potable drinking water supplies of the community close to the state capital (predominately white).  The new route proposed and accepted saw the new route running through a similarly situated area inhabited by poor people and Indians...if the project presents a risk to one community's drinking water, how can it not present a risk to another community's drinking water and why is it ok to make one community live with a risk that was deemed to significant for another. (Environmental Racism rears its ugly head.)

2.   Citizens being asked to play host to the DAPL project, much like the citizens here in my community have been told the project is safe, that the pipeline will not leak, and if it does leak, the safety equipment and sensors would keep a leak to a minimum.   Despite these assurances, this month saw a 176,000 gallon leak sprung up on the DAPL...even more disturbing, the company's sensor that was supposed to notify them of a problem or leak failed.   If it were not for a property owner who was out for a walk noticing the leak, the situation would have been far worse.  Meanwhile, the clean up of the now polluted stream has begun.

In February of 2016 Indian Point had a serious leak of radioactive water into the Hudson River, just one example of the problems with this dilapidated aged reactor long past its safe operational lifetime, an it is now not a question of if, but when the reactors suffer a cataclysmic accident that will threaten millions of people downwind of the reactors.  Placing Spectra Energy's high pressure toxic fracked gas pipeline within 200 feet of reactors greatly increases the risk of a significant accident at the site which is why the Spectra project must be stopped.
First, having a high pressure pipeline so close to the failing Indian Point Reactor owned by Entergy presents a very attractive target for terrorists...two significant energy projects 24 miles from Manhattan is a target that those bent on intent of attacking America and our infrastructure are more than likely going to go after.  Yet, these terrorist/malcontent threats have not been evaluated by FERC or the NRC.
Secondly, what would the effects be if through attack, or pipeline failure there was an explosion in the pipeline similar to the one that occurred in Helena Alabama in November of 2016?  The Hudson River burning, hundreds of thousands if not millions of gallons of fracked gas rushing downstream, polluting the river, and killing wildlife along the way.
Further, would the debris from such an explosion create serious issues involving Indian Point's water intake system, and if so, how does Entergy plan to cool the reactors if they have to shut down their access to the Billions of Gallons of water they need each day to keep the reactors from melting down?
NOTE-2.5 billion gallons/day -- twice NYC’s total daily consumption.

Lastly, what effect on the interior of the reactors would occur if debris from the pipeline, fracked gas from the pipeline were being sucked in from the water intake? Would the reactors be damaged, could these pollutants and debris change the interior atmosphere of the reactors enough to cause an explosion of the reactors, creating and instantaneous Fukishima on the Hudson which would then put over 25 percent of America's population in harms way?

Alarmist?  Before you make that accusation, let's look at what a 20 inch high pressure gas line explosion looks like.  Keep in mind, the Spectra Algonquin Pipeline is TWICE this size in diameter.

Ask the NRC if our Emergency Responders are prepared to handle and explosion of this magnitude with the flames melting the steel roofs of Indian Point's non-hardened spent fuel pools.   If those roofs collapse into pools, causing the spent fuel rods to become unstable, what kind of a nuclear chain reaction would occur?  Further,  new pipelines are actually FAILING at a rate three times greater than their older predecessors installed in the 1950's.  Much like Indian Point, it is not a question of if, but when this Pipeline has a significant life threatening accident.   If that accident occurs in close proximity to Indian Point the probability of a Fukushima-on-the-Hudson that would make NY City uninhabitable millennia is almost a certainty.

Spectra's Safety record at best is checkered, and they are not immune to explosions in the 22,000 miles of pipeline they operate across America and Canada.

A DRAMATIC RUPTURESpectra’s most recent pipeline accident was the dramatic rupture of an auxiliary pipe along its Texas Eastern Pipeline in Little Rock, Ark. on May 31. The buried line, which crossed the Arkansas River near the Clinton Presidential Center, was not in use at the time, but contained four million cubic feet of natural gas that exploded with such force that churning water boiled up high into the air across the span of the river. Eyewitness Tony Cassady, who lives nearby, said the gushing waters had settled back somewhat by the time he managed to snap the photo above.
It is time to just say no, and put and end to this doomed to disaster project...if Spectra Energy wants to petition FERC for a new alternative route, let Spectra do so, but allowing the Spectra project to continue on its current route that brings it within 200 feet of Indian Point must be stopped.

A closing question...if FERC feels it imperative for pipelines to be at least 500 feet from homes, why is it OK to have such a dangerous project less than 200 feet from a Nuclear Reactor?

Trump You Are President Elect of America, Not President Of The People

Notice EAR PIECE...Russia Prompts?
Dear Donald J Trump:

Today it became official, you are the President of America.  However, we at this moment in history are not the United States of America, and you are not the President of the people.  Most of us hate you, despise you, don't trust you, or are just flat out scared to death of what your Presidency is going to do to the people you are supposed to serve.  The very concept of you serving anyone or anything other than Donald J Trump and his interests would be laughable if it were not so scarily laughable. You have spent your entire life thinking everything is all about the Donald, and you have spent your entire life stooping to any level in your quest to feed your own ego.

Your zealots masquerading as pundits on various and assorted manipulated news channels tell us we must accept your presidency, must get over our anger and unite behind you and your agenda for America...that is not going to happen.   Most civilized human beings here and around the world find everything about you repugnant, find that your views on the most important issues of our time run contrary to our beliefs.  You are perceived to be the Modern Day reincarnation of Adolph Hitler, your cabinet choices a rebirth of the Third Reich on steroids.   Under your leadership, World War III is no longer something we guard against, but a likely probability.   You in your four years will more than likely lead America into War, destroy our standing in the world for decades to come, and possible set Global Climate Change on a course that will lead to Earth becoming just another dead planet flying through the cosmos devoid of all life.

Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell have pledged to work with you in a war on 79 Million Baby Boomers, Medicare/Medicaid and Social Security on the proverbial chopping block to pay for more tax cuts for the Uber Rich under the guise that they will create more good paying jobs.  First, Reaganomics and Trickle Down Economics did not and will not work.   The rich got a lot richer, while the average working stiff has been treading water now for almost 40 years, at best their wages stagnant as we struggle to keep our heads above water.  Additionally, we the working people have paid into the program our entire lives, we PAID THE PREMIUMS for both these safety nets meant to take care of us in our Golden Years...now, you are willing to break your campaign promises and allow Paul Ryan to steal those benefits away from us?

You seem to be at war with every person in the 99 percent, including those whom you catered favor with during your run for President, feeding them your pablum out on the Campaign Trail in an Act that would put PT Barnum to shame...they believed you, and now with that smirk on your face, you are (with your decisions) laughing in their faces, thinking to yourself, "you stupid shills don't even realize what I am about to do to all of you, you are nothing to me but sheep to the slaughter who have unwittingly followed the siren song into troubled waters that will see most of you drown under the Tyranny of my reign.

You don't love America, never have...Donald is incapable of loving anyone or anything other than himself, and the majority of us who voted this saw through your thin veil of supposed Patriotism which is why you lost the Popular Vote by almost 3 million people.   The margin of Hillary Clinton's win would have been far great if not for voter suppression, and the interference of Russia, both couple with your treason to this nation.  Yes, I am saying it...you are guilty of treason, and I shall go to my grave praying each and every day that you are brought to trial on this charge, found guilty and given the maximum penalty under the law, a sentence of death.

Immigration Reform should not include deporting 12 million people, some of whom (DREAMERS) know no other country than America.   Fines, penalties and other such reprisals for breaking our laws are reasonable, but the tearing apart of families, the ruthless gathering up of human beings like they are cattle for deportation...that is not America, does not represent our values.   Build your wall, and "We The People" will tear it down.   Start gathering up undocumented immigrants, and we will form a new Underground Railroad to spirit these humans to a Safe Haven, hide them from our brutal regime.

If you and the putrid far right evangelicals think we as a nation are going backwards when it comes to LGBT Rights and marriage equality, guess again.   Watch how fast America will go from being the loyal opposition, the resistance willing to stand up against your despot ways to a full fledged rebellion with millions upon millions taking to the streets in open hostile resistance to what would be an open attempt at Genocide of those's who's lifestyles, love choices and sexual identity run contrary to your perceived moral authority and superiority.

On this and so many other issues of importance as relates to human dignity "We the People" have come to far, made to much forward progress to let you or anyone else push us backwards.  We will stand strong, and if necessary will move from resistance to full out opposition of those wishing to oppress us.  You have gathered together the most Anti-LGBT cabinet possible, your intentions clear in your selections, and we are donning our armor, are prepared to push back on this and so many other issues.  Arrest as subversives, and it will be a badge of honor we will wear proudly.

Women for decades have shouted from the rooftops "Keep your hands and your laws off our bodies". Now they are looking at a man who pretends to be President who shouts from the rooftops, "Grab em by the pussies!"  You've said in a TV interview that women should be PUNISHED for having an abortion, but you were fine with paying for an abortion when your Mistress got pregnant...no hypocrisy there!

Even God gives all of us "Freedom of Choice" our decisions on Judgement Day between ourselves and our God.  The rabid right wing evangelicals, Republicans and you need to stop trying to legislate your morals onto the rest of the nation...quite frankly the morals of all of you repulse the majority of Americans, and the hypocrisy you exhibit is astounding as you look down upon us from on high and say, "Do as I say, not as I do".  We'll just leave the names of Dennis Hastert and Mark Foley here, and remind everyone that both Senator McCain and Newt Gingrich had no problems carrying on affairs while married and members of Congress.

Mother Earth is in crisis, Global Warming very real, yet you have put together a cabinet of Climate Deniers who are bent on sucking out of the earth every last ounce of Fossil related Energy regardless of the folly, regardless of the additional damage that will be done to the planet traveling down this path.  Every citizen of America, every citizen of the world needs to take a pledge to become Earth Warriors, doing anything and everything within our power to oppose people like you who put profits above the only planet we have, who are willing to be contributors to Global Warming in your quest to become every richer even if it means the death of the only planet we have.

You will occupy the White House for a time...guessing far less than four years as most of us fully expect you to be impeached, but you will never be OUR PRESIDENT.    In your cabinet choices, in your "Thank You Tour" you have shown you are anything but a Uniter, have shown your intent to rule with an iron fist.  In your world, there is Donald Trump, and those fool hardy enough to follow him, and enemies.   I stand tall, and am proud to stand with those that are against you, who will oppose your reign of terror with our last breath if necessary.

You won the White House tonight, but you did not and never will win the hearts and souls of decent Americans.

America, We Had a Good Run...

Like many Americans, I was vested in this past Presidential Election, was looking forward to the progress we would make with a Democratic Senate, Hillary Clinton in the White House, and for the first time in 42 years, a Supreme Court where liberal progressive thinkers were in the majority on the bench.  On November 8th I woke up early, had my morning coffee then walked up the street and around the corner to our local library to cast my vote...Straight Blue Ticket from top to bottom, and then went for a walk on a beautiful sunny day with my camera, my step light, not a care on the horizon as I strolled along the Hudson River.

When dusk arrived, evening darkness settling in  ordered in food and got myself settled on the sofa ready to watch the returns coming in, a bottle of Champagne in the refrigerator ready to be uncorked when the News made it official that for the first time ever Americans could say, "Congratulations Madam President".  The bottle of champagne still takes up space in my frig, the cork never popped, the celebration replaced by a deep sadness as the reality that Donald J. Trump had won the Electoral College votes necessary to be our next President tried to sink in.

Some six weeks later, the reality is far worse than any of us thought it could ever be, the man now President Elect far worse than the monster we had seen out on the Campaign Trail.  Some have moved on, accepted what will be, returned to their daily lives, struggling to pay their bills realizing that for them not much has changed, or will change with the changing of the guard in Washington, DC.   Myself...I am having a hard time accepting the unacceptable, frustrated that our Government is far more concerned with a "Peaceful Transition of Power" than addressing what was not, is not a "Free and Fair" election, as even those in our own party seem to be complicit in the betrayal of us. Where is the backbone of our party, their will to fight and take a stand?

Trump'ers screaming at us on Twitter, "Get over it, YOU LOST! Stop your whining and accept it, Trump is your President."

No, he is not.  Donald J, Trump is the antithesis of everything I am, everything that I have believed in for 60 years.  As an abuse survivor, the man pushes every one of my buttons, has brought back those silent screams and memories of things from so long ago that I thought were put away.  I read his tweets, or see him on the news, and find myself being triggered almost 24 hours a day, sleep fitful and filled once again with nightmares of things I wish my eyes had never seen.

My urge is to run away and hide, sell everything I own and just disappear...a knee jerk reaction honed in a childhood filled with abuse.  Reality finds room in the maelstrom of my emotions and I realize running means the abuser wins...so I stay, hoping for a chance to take a stand, to fight for that which I know is right.

It is Saturday morning at just after 3AM...I should be in bed sound asleep, but I feel like an inmate sitting on death row knowing that America as we knew it will be executed on Monday when the Electoral College casts its votes...I am hoping for a miracle, praying for Obama to step in and make it all right again, while knowing deep down in my heart that nothing can stop this train from hell from leaving the station, frightened at what is to come.

The recounts we counted on to set the record straight were halted by courts controlled by Republicans.  The CIA and FBI admitting that Russia interfered in the Election, but claiming not enough so to throw the election to Trump.  Hello, he lost the Popular Vote by almost 3 million voters, and won four crucial battle ground states by less than .00006 percent of the Popular Vote, but lets all pretend his margin of victory was enough that we can dismiss the deliberate interference of a Foreign Power in our elections.  The hope of the Electoral College receiving a briefing by the CIA dashed, and Hamilton Voters willing to vote their conscience shy by almost 20 dashes our hopes of a miracle come Monday...our fate is set, America as we knew about to die.

Old song lyrics racing through my mind, "Bye bye Miss American Pie, drove my Chevy to the levy but the levy was dry..."  you know the song, or at least a large number of you do.  Monday is the day the music will die, the day that a fascist President begins his war on immigrants, Muslims, working people and America's elderly, and lets not forget a war on the only planet we have as Climate Deniers in his cabinet roll back rules intended to slow Global Warming in the name of Big Oil as Sarah Palin's Army once again begins to chant, "Drill Baby Drill."

My Lord, why has thou forsaken me?...I know, a rhetorical question since the Evangelicals have told us already that Trump's elevation to President is all a part of God's grand plan.   Are you kidding me? The man was recorded saying "Grab them by the pussy!" and freely and openly stirs the passions of racist hatred at every appearance on the Campaign Trail and "Victory Tour"...can someone from the religious right explain this to me as I really just don't get it...the man is everything that Christians supposedly would find repugnant, and yet you supported him in numbers that are staggering.  Did you hate Obama and Hillary so much that you felt the Anti-Christ was a better choice?

People are saying we let Barack Obama down, and that is true.  More importantly, we let America and everything it is supposed to represent down.  Everyone who played a part in this tragic charade has blood on their hands, owns the role of Judas who sold his soul for 35 pieces of silver.  For all of us, "I'm sorry America".

I leave you with this old protest song that brought me solace in my early years as I tried to deal with the turmoil that was the 60's, a time when it seemed like we were on the brink of destruction, the America we knew a shadow about to vanish in the wind.  A good cry clears the mind, lets us reconnect to our heart.  Have a good cry and pray for America, it may be our only hope of a miracle in our hour of need.

DAPL Not so Safe After All...Suffers Significant Leak...Company DID NOT KNOW.

Kelcy Warren, Energy Transfer CEO
The Army Corp admitted that there was a serious danger to the potable water supplies of a community when the pipeline's original routing took it through a predominantly WHITE community up by the state capital.   Reroute the pipeline away from this White community to a more rural area populated by POC, and suddenly the Army Corp and the companies involved in building the Pipeline want you to believe that moving the pipeline to a different area suddenly makes it SAFE...who are we kidding here?  If the pipeline presents a potential risk to human health in what area, it presents a risk to human health in ALL AREAS.

For months, the Water Protectors and those who support them have fought a brave fight against over whelming odds, and won a major battle in the fight to stop the pipeline.  Now it seems that Kismet is stepping in and giving these brave patriots yet another helping hand in their fight...absolute concrete proof that the pipeline IS NOT SAFE, does threaten the potable water supplies in their community if this project is allowed to move forward.

Kelcy Warren of Texas-based Energy Transfer Partners said in a interview on November 16th:
Also, on each side of the lake, there’s automated valves that, if in the very, very unlikely situation there were to be a leak, our control room shuts down the pipe, encapsulates that small section that could be in peril.
So, that’s that’s just not going to happen. Number one, we’re not going to have a leak.
OK...lets fast forward to THIS WEEK!  From CNN:
A spill has occurred 150 miles from Cannon Ball, North Dakota, where protesters have fought construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline.
State officials estimate 4,200 barrels of crude oil, or 176,000 gallons, have leaked from the Belle Fourche Pipeline in Billings County.
Of that amount, 130,000 gallons of oil has flowed into Ash Coulee Creek, while the rest leaked onto a hillside, said Bill Suess, spill investigation program manager at the North Dakota Department of Health.
It would be nice if the Federal Agency who approves these kinds of projects (FERC) were actually honest with the stakeholder communities...they are not.  Much like other agencies such as the NRC, they state at Public Meetings and Hearings a basic lie..."There is no immediate danger associated with this project."  Immediate danger means in the RIGHT NOW, verse something that will more than likely occur a year, five years or ten down the line, such as the leak that has spilled into a creek contaminating both land and water.  They further compromise their integrity in the permitting process by putting forth a Cost Benefit Analysis that ALWAYS SIDES WITH THEIR PERMITTEE'S, the permittee's are supposed to be protecting you the stakeholders from.

I have no doubt that Kelcy Warren (CEO) will claim the leak to be minor, and rare.   He then will go on to claim that there will be no long term harm to the environment or human health as a result of the leak.

Before he continues on with his diatribe, let's interrupt with a few inconvenient facts.  The size of the spill was greatly lessened because a property owner discovered the spill and notified the proper authorities...that's right, a property owner.   Had this accidental discovery on the part of a property owner not occurred, this spill would have quickly become one of the worst spills in the United States of America.   Some would accuse me of overstating the MAGNITUDE of the potential spill, but am I?   What the company would prefer you not know, why I make this claim...the sensor(s) that are supposed to inform the company they have a leak FAILED, did NOT WORK.   The company had zero clue the pipeline was leaking.

This fact immediately tells us that the companies involved in this and other pipeline projects have a woefully inadequate MAINTENANCE PROGRAM on these pipelines.  A sensor can be replaced at a sensor cost of UNDER $18...obviously, the fact that the sensor was not replaced in a timely fashion shows a serious failure on the part of FERC and the Oil Industry to put in place a safety and maintenance program that will effectively mitigate the extent of damage when their pipes leak, and leak they will.   Perhaps if the Oil Industry placed public safety first, they would not commission studies that look for ways to make the cheapest sensors, but instead look for ways to make the BEST SENSORS that money could buy.

As relates to the DAPL project...it is my hope that the Water Protectors demand a full and complete study of failed sensors as a part of the new EIS that the Army Corp is promising.  It is also hoped that they file a formal complaint with FERC against the entire industry that demands a full and complete investigation into failing sensors, and the industry's inadequate Maintenance programs for pipelines nationwide.
